Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Sotto (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use the App. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and JINS TECH STUDIO (“we,” “us,” or “our”).

2. Description of Service

Sotto is a macOS desktop application that provides on-device voice dictation, translation, and hands-free input powered by local AI models running on Apple Silicon. By default, all audio processing and transcription occur entirely on your device. The App requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later).

For the translation feature only, Sotto optionally supports cloud-based AI models through user-provided API keys (e.g., OpenAI, Groq). This is disabled by default and must be explicitly enabled by the user. When cloud translation is active, transcribed text (not raw audio) may be sent to the selected third-party provider. Their terms of service and privacy policy apply to that data. We are not responsible for how third-party providers handle your data. All other features (dictation, subtitles, hands-free) always run 100% locally.

3. Privacy and Data

Sotto does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your voice recordings, transcriptions, and translations are processed locally on your Mac and are never sent to any external server. Specifically:

• No audio recordings are collected or stored outside your device (in local mode)
• No usage analytics or telemetry are gathered
• No user accounts or personal profiles are created
• The App does not require an internet connection to function in local mode

If you choose to use cloud-based translation, transcribed text may be sent to your selected third-party provider. Please review their privacy policy before enabling this feature.

For purchases, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not have access to your full payment details. Please review Stripe’s privacy policy for information on how payment data is handled.

4. License

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, JINS TECH STUDIO grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the App
• Reverse engineer, disassemble, or decompile the App
• Redistribute, sublicense, sell, or transfer the App to any third party
• Use the App for any commercial purpose without written permission
• Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the App

This license does not constitute a sale of the App or any copy thereof. JINS TECH STUDIO retains all right, title, and interest in and to the App.

5. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the App for any unlawful, harmful, or prohibited purpose. Without limiting the foregoing, you may not use the App to:

• Generate, process, or distribute sexually explicit, pornographic, or obscene content
• Create or operate NSFW chatbots, adult content generators, or similar services
• Produce content that exploits, harms, or endangers minors in any way
• Harass, threaten, defame, or intimidate any person or entity
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation
• Infringe upon or violate the intellectual property rights of others
• Transmit any material that contains viruses, malware, or other harmful code

We reserve the right to revoke your license and terminate access to the App if you are found to be in violation of these prohibited uses, without refund or prior notice.

6. System Requirements

The App requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later and a Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later). Certain features require the following macOS permissions, which must be granted by the user through macOS System Settings:

• Accessibility permission (for automatic text insertion)
• Microphone permission (for voice input)
• Input Monitoring permission (for global hotkeys)

These permissions are managed entirely by macOS and can be revoked at any time through System Settings. We do not have access to any data collected by these permissions beyond what is necessary for the App’s core functionality.

7. Purchases & Payments

Sotto is available as a one-time purchase of $49.99 USD. The App includes a 30-day free trial with no credit card required. After the trial period, a one-time payment is required to continue using the App.

• Payments are processed securely by Stripe
• Your license is valid on devices you own or control
• The one-time purchase includes all future updates to the App
• No subscription, no recurring charges

8. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day refund window from the date of purchase. If you are not satisfied with the App, you may request a full refund within 30 days of your purchase date.

• To request a refund, email us at support@jinstechstudio.com.au with your order details
• Refunds are processed through Stripe and may take 5–10 business days
• After the 30-day window, purchases are non-refundable

9. Intellectual Property

The App and all related content, features, and functionality — including but not limited to software, text, graphics, logos, icons, and images — are and shall remain the exclusive property of JINS TECH STUDIO and its licensors.

The Sotto name, logo, and associated trademarks are trademarks of JINS TECH STUDIO. You may not use any trademarks, logos, or other proprietary graphics of JINS TECH STUDIO without prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. JINS TECH STUDIO does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted or error-free, that defects will be corrected, or that the App is free of viruses or other harmful components. The accuracy of transcriptions and translations depends on audio quality, accent, and background noise; we make no guarantee regarding transcription accuracy. Use of the App is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall JINS TECH STUDIO, its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages (including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, business interruption, or cost of substitute goods or services) arising out of or in connection with your use or inability to use the App, even if JINS TECH STUDIO has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In any case, JINS TECH STUDIO’s total cumulative liability to you for any claims arising out of or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
